Adoption Questions

How do I adopt a dog? All adoptions start with an application. You can fill one out at this link: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TTKN/Dog

Am I guaranteed to get the dog I applied for? The short answer is no. There is not a guarantee of adoption just because you completed an application. It is important to us to find the right fit for our dogs. This ensures they will be a good family member and are less likely to be returned. Our fosters spend time really getting to know the dogs, and we do our very best to make the right match. If you aren't "picked" for that dog, please don't be offended. It just means the dog has personality traits that we don't think we be a great match. But, there is no shortage of dogs. We want to work with our adopters to have the best success at locating the perfect match.

What are the adoption fees for your dogs? We have set the adoption fees to: Puppy (up to 1 year old) $550 Adult Dog (1-8 years old) $450 Senior (8+) $300 Adoption fees for each dog will be in their listing. So please check the listing for the dog you are interested in.

How do we pay the adoption fee? All adoptions will be processed through our shelter software where you will be able to choose to use either a debit card or credit card. We will not be accepting checks at this time. Cash will be on a case by case basis.

Fostering Questions

How do I become a foster? Complete the application at the link below. Please note, the application is long, as it also includes our foster agreement. Doing this allows us to let you see what the expectations are up front. If there is something you have questions about, we are happy to discuss it. What does fostering include? What is expected? The basics are keeping the dog safe. Giving them love. Providing for their basic needs (food, water, walks, etc) and teaching them some basics to help them be adoptable to a new home. We do not expect you to have extensive knowledge or training skills. Those you learn with practice and time.

Won't I be too sad to give up my dog? I am afraid it will be too hard. We hear this a lot. The first thing we have to say is that it is important to remember you are a stepping stone for them. Your job is to prepare them for their new family. But we won't say you aren't going to be sad. There are still dogs that touch us more than others. Some that I have to fight tears until the foster drives away, then I cry. When you watch these dogs blossom and grow and see their personalities come out, it makes you love them even more. Each one leaves a special paw print on our heart!

What about a foster fail? If you find a dog that just fits so perfectly into your family, you get the first option to adopt. We have all had those. It is ok. And if you are that dog's forever person, then we are thrilled with that.
